As part of the "Educational Mobility Without Physical Mobility" subproject at Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU), virtual and hybrid exchange programs are being established as permanent exchange formats. The goal is to increase study-related international experience in line with JLU's internationalization strategy and to systematically advance the digitalization of teaching and learning.
These measures address new target groups to enable broad participation in international experiences and intercultural exchange, with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and equality. Virtual and hybrid exchange formats aim to strengthen participants' intercultural competencies through international and group-based teaching and learning formats. This QuiS project supports virtual international mobility and blended learning formats by expanding virtual and hybrid exchange formats for both incoming and outgoing students.
These approaches promote diversity among students with international experience and improve inclusion in international exchange programs. Furthermore, this educational initiative requires the complete digitalization of internal administrative processes, which complies with the Germany-wide implementation of the Online Access Act. This requires comprehensive training and guidance for the people involved. Thus, the project not only promotes digital and intercultural skills but also contributes to process optimization and facilitates access to international experiences.
