Further development of university didactics

The Department of Higher Education Didactics at Justus Liebig University Giessen has established itself as a key player in promoting sustainable, innovative, and high-quality teaching. Our goal is to safeguard and improve teaching quality in the long term for the benefit of all students. With a planned reorientation, we offer an innovative, subject-specific, and digitalized program for all teachers.

The focus is particularly on:

• Digital teaching: New methods and techniques for digital knowledge transfer.
• Tutor qualification: Special programs to support and develop tutors .
• Programs for professors : Our comprehensive continuing education programs are increasingly aimed at professors to actively engage this previously underrepresented group. We are continuing the work of the University Didactics Competence Center and developing it into a Service Center for University Didactics. Through strategic networking with innovation projects such as NIDIT (funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education) and HessenHub (funded by the HMWK), and by focusing on professors, we are continuously expanding our offerings.

We're also continuing to expand our digital consulting services. Our focus areas are:

• Advice and training for teachers
• Integration into teaching-related third-party funding applications
• Increasing reach and appeal to professors
• Development of a certificate offering specifically for digital teaching contexts
• Targeted approach to lecturers With these measures, we are shaping university teaching at JLU for the future and making a decisive contribution to the continuous improvement of teaching.
