Data for dynamics
By extending the standard period of study from seven to nine semesters, the GettING Started program variant gives students more time in the first two years for specialized support, in-depth study, and guidance. It will be offered in eleven engineering bachelor's degree programs at THM in the future. Cohort analysis will be used to measure the success of this program variant and ensure its dynamic further development.
The cohorts are comprised of students from both the regular and the GettING Started study variants. The comparability of the variants is ensured by the identical course content and degrees awarded. Through a mixed-methods design of standardized surveys and semi-structured interviews, this project provides quantitative and qualitative data with information and insights into the study program variants in particular and the student life cycle in general. The standardized survey, using a fixed and hypothesis-driven questionnaire, is conducted at three points in time for each cohort: at the start of studies, in the third semester, and after the fourth semester. The semi-structured interviews provide a more in-depth complement to this data and are conducted in the second semester.
The results from the empirical data are directly incorporated into a target group-specific adaptation of the measures.
