Data for dynamics

By extending the standard period of study from seven to nine semesters, the GettING Started course variant gives students more time for professional support, in-depth study and guidance in the first two years. In the future, it will be offered in eleven engineering bachelor's degree programs at THM. With the help of cohort analysis, the success of this course variant is measured and dynamic further development is ensured.

The cohorts are formed from both the regular and the GettING Started study variant. The comparability of the variants results from the identical course content and qualifications. Using a mixed-methods design consisting of standardized surveys and guideline-based interviews, this project provides quantitative and qualitative data with information and insights on the course variants in particular and the student life cycle in general. The standardized survey with a fixed and hypothesis-driven questionnaire is carried out at three points in time per cohort - at the start of the course, in the third and after the fourth semester. The guided interviews offer a more in-depth addition to this data and are carried out in the second semester.

The results from the empirical data flow directly into a target group-specific adaptation of the measures.
