Pilot project studying part-time through hybrid teaching formats

In the pilot project of the AI department, hybrid teaching formats are being developed that enable or improve part-time studying. The flexibilization takes place particularly in the spatial and temporal dimensions.

The challenge of studying part-time is to lower hurdles for students, such as the fact that students are not entitled to BAföG funding, are disadvantaged when it comes to health insurance, and have only a limited right to residence or student housing. It is also more difficult for them to obtain a student loan.

As part of the pilot project, a sustainable and resource-oriented part-time study program is to be created that corresponds to the part-time models within the meaning of HHG §19 (formal part-time study) and, above all, enables studying at any time and place through hybrid teaching formats. Part-time study means that certain days in the timetable remain free for each cohort. In addition, extending the deadlines for submitting papers should allow for flexibility in examinations. A flexible change option between the variants before the start of each semester should be taken into account conceptually in order to be able to flexibly adapt the course of study to the individual living circumstances, especially for vulnerable groups (single parents, chronically ill people) or professionally involved and international students.
