Sub-project of making the study programs at Fulda University more flexible

Location: Fulda University

Pilot project online group in the “Accounting, Finance, Controlling (AFC)” degree program (W2)

The aim of the project is to establish a second group of students (approx. 35 students) in the “Accounting, Finance, Controlling (AFC)” course, which is already face-to-face and taught purely online. On the one hand, the flexibility is achieved methodically, as the online group course has to be redesigned didactically. On the other hand, a high level of spatial flexibility is guaranteed because students can choose between the ongoing face-to-face studies and the newly designed online studies and, if necessary, can also switch between the formats.

The challenge is that in some courses, especially in the master's area, students often study part-time and have family obligations. However, the existing degree programs are designed for face-to-face teaching. This often results in time overlaps, which often lead to a substantial extension of the course of study beyond the standard period of study.

In the pilot course “Accounting, Finance, Controlling (AFC) this challenge is met with a group of students taught exclusively online. To this end, web-based training is intended to support students in acquiring knowledge, transferring knowledge and applying and testing knowledge. Additional methods such as inverted classrooms and peer teaching should also be included.
