Pilot project Bachelor's degree program “Management in Healthcare (MIG)”

In the Department of Health Sciences, more flexible study formats are being developed with the aim of better addressing the needs of students with professional qualifications. The focus is on making the methodological and spatial dimensions more flexible. For example, a weekly alternation between online and in-person instruction will be established.

Even among students with professional qualifications, there is a consensus that personal interaction during in-person sessions is valuable and desirable. At the same time, this group faces particular challenges, such as working while studying, family obligations, or the commute required to attend in-person classes.
This pilot project addresses these challenges with a flipped classroom model, which, through a combination of self-study units and a weekly alternation between synchronous online and in-person sessions, enables in-depth and therefore sustainable learning. The systematic weekly alternation between online and in-person learning phases promotes learning progress through continuous interaction. Crucially, the modules are studied sequentially.

The flexibility model has a high potential for adaptation and could be transferred in an adapted form to the Bachelor's degree programs in nursing, physiotherapy and vocational education in health, and further developed based on the specific needs of the students in these degree programs.
