Remove obstacles – promote stays abroad

Intercultural competence, experience of foreignness, empathy and tolerance are becoming increasingly important among an increasingly heterogeneous group of students and are also a resource for school lessons. This observation is just as much a starting point for efforts to increase the internationalization of teacher training as the finding that the proportion of foreign mobility among teacher training students is significantly lower than among other student groups.

The aim of the project is to promote the international mobility of teacher training students at the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU).
In addition to student mobility, the focus is also on school internships abroad. To this end, universities and German schools within the JLU's institutional network of strategic partner regions will be made fruitful for the internationalization of all teacher training courses at the JLU. Conceptually, the project focuses primarily on the obstacles to mobility that teacher training students mention: Firstly, the multiple subject combination of two or three subjects and basic sciences that is available in the teaching profession, which generally cannot be studied equivalently abroad. Secondly, there is the fear that achievements achieved abroad will not be recognized and this will result in disadvantages in the course of your studies. Thirdly, the identification of suitable mobility windows against the background of two-semester modules and associated examinations.
