Game development for teaching and research

LevelUp develops serious games that are used to impart knowledge in teaching and learning contexts at universities. The aim of the project is to sustainably acquire expertise in the areas of serious game development and data literacy. We want to achieve this by setting up student games workshops at both joint universities. On the one hand, we offer interested students an attractive offer for their own further training in the area of digital game development and to promote their data skills. On the other hand, by working with LevelUp, teachers have the opportunity to creatively design and sustainably expand their teaching offerings through the playful implementation of learning content.

Good idea asked

In close collaboration with the teachers, our team realizes the desired learning content as a serious game, such as a playful self-assessment training or a game that implements the content of seminars or lectures in a playful way. All you have to bring with you is a good idea - we will be happy to support you with the conception and technical implementation! We would also be happy to advise you on any funding options and costs.

In addition to game development, LevelUp also offers free continuing education for students and teachers through annual series of events. These include the Summer of Development organized by LevelUp and the Winter of Games organized in cooperation with HessenHub@JLU. We provide a wide range of events through interdisciplinary lectures and workshops, allowing you to expand your theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of game design, game development, gamification and university didactics.

The sustainability of our work is also very important to us, which is why we attach great importance to clean and detailed documentation. In addition to the project's own asset database, which can be used free of charge by anyone interested, all steps in our game development are documented in accordance with industry standards and are published together with our game projects.
