Structured study orientation, preparation and support

Choosing the right field of study and finding your way around a university are not easy tasks – especially for international students. Is my German enough to study my desired subject? Where can I improve my language skills? And what is it like to study in Germany? Prepare&Start@THM helps with all of these questions. With the program, international prospective students not only receive help, orientation and in-depth preparation, but also very personal support: student mentors answer questions, talk about their everyday lives, guide them through the university and, last but not least, ensure a particularly warm atmosphere Welcome.

Arrive safely on campus

The aim of Prepare&Start@THM is broad integration into the university's academic system. When it comes to choosing a course of study, international prospective students are not left alone, but are given specific advice. The decision to choose a course of study is supported proactively. Study orientation programs (pre-study) and various support offers when starting your studies (e.g. mentoring, German as a foreign language) ensure a good start to your studies and a quick adjustment to your new everyday life.

In the future, prospective students won't even have to be on site to benefit from the program: Pre-Study is developing a blended learning format that uses an online learning platform to promote the acquisition of study-related digital skills before the start of their studies. A central component of the program are the personal mentors: In addition to exchanging experiences, networking with each other and with existing student organizations, they also ensure that international students quickly find their way around and settle in on campus.

Various workshops and lectures are also offered to develop individual skills and abilities - for example on learning techniques, mental health, anti-discrimination or financing studies. The choice of internships and all questions relating to starting a career are also discussed.
