Speed down, deepening up

Some first-year students need more support, more input – and more time. The “GettING Started” course variant offers you all of this, making the transition from school to university easier. The THM also benefits: student success is sustainably increased, the number of dropouts decreases and the current high level of training can be maintained.

The “GettING Started” course variant is a sub-project of “Studying at Adapted Speed” (SaG) and works as follows: By extending the start of the course by two semesters, the speed of study is slowed down in favor of a more intensive deepening of the lecture content. Mandatory additional offers raise different levels of knowledge to a uniform level and strengthen interdisciplinary skills.

Here they are supported in small groups by tutors. The program also includes an introductory seminar in which independence, communication, teamwork and time management are practiced. A mock exam is also written here.

“GettING Started” is currently offered in six THM departments:

  • Electrical and information technology (EI)
  • Information technology-electrical engineering-mechatronics (IEM)
  • Mechanical engineering and energy technology (ME)
  • Mechanical engineering, mechatronics, materials technology (M)
  • Construction (CONSTRUCTION)
  • Life Science Engineering (LSE)
