Joint project SaG – Study of adapted speed
Location: Fulda University
Start smart
It is the modules from the first semesters that determine later academic success. But mathematics, electrical engineering, technical mechanics, physics and computer science pose a great challenge to many first-year students - there is often a lack of prior knowledge, the complexity is underestimated or the wrong learning method is used. Smart at start! The modules from the first two semesters are therefore spread over four semesters and supplemented by individual support - the mentorships. In small groups there is plenty of time to learn the basics. Additional courses help to organize your studies. Practical projects provide an insight into typical engineering working methods.
Start smart! , the study of adapted speed (SaG) - is a supplementary course of study to the bachelor's degree courses in the ET department at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and is currently offered in the following four courses:
- Renewable energies (RE)
- Electrical and information technology (ET)
- Mechatronics (MT)
- Industrial Engineering (WI)
The entire standard period of study therefore extends to nine semesters, which - if eligible - are fully eligible for BaföG funding. From the 5th semester onwards, the course of study corresponds to that of regular studies from the 3rd semester onwards.
The focus is on the basic subjects. In small groups, additional practice tasks are worked on, connections are explained and possible weak points are eliminated. The practical relevance is made clear in additional practical projects, making it possible to transform tasks that sometimes seem abstract into tangible objects. During the introductory week at the start of your studies, there will be a detailed information event about Start smart! as well as a general self-assessment (placement test with basic questions on the subjects of the basic course). Based on the test results, students receive a recommendation for an individual consultation in which it is considered whether the regular or the adapted course of study is the right study option.
