More time to start your studies

Complete the lectures and exams that would normally take three semesters in five semesters – and use the extra time for individual support and in-depth study? Time4ING , the adjusted-pace study program in the engineering department at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, allows all first-year students who need more time at the beginning to have a more relaxed start to their studies.

Since the summer semester of 2023, the Time4ING study option has been available in the Electrical Engineering program, and since the winter semester of 2023/24 in International Industrial Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Students can apply directly for Time4ING or, after a consultation, explore the option of a more gradual start to their studies. For example, if the placement test in mathematics during the third week of lectures reveals insufficient prior knowledge, students are encouraged to switch to Time4ING.

Here's how the accelerated start to your studies works: By extending the first phase of your studies by two semesters to a total of five, more time is available for foundational subjects. This results in fewer courses and exams per semester, allowing for more individualized support in small groups. Projects and internships deepen this foundational knowledge. A "Starting Your Studies" module complements the subject-specific content with essential "toolkit" for university studies: learning techniques, time management, and academic writing. Time4ING students are supported by a staff member and mentored by students in higher semesters.
