Welcome event for the PreBachelor preparatory semester

A diverse group of 20 international participants from countries such as Turkey, Peru, and Egypt embarked on their PreBachelor adventure – an intensive preparation program for a Bachelor's degree in Engineering at TU Darmstadt. This program offers not only a specialized German language course at the Language Center and a preparatory course in mathematics, but also study skills training and helpful campus and city tours, enabling the international participants to optimally prepare themselves academically and organizationally for their upcoming studies.

The welcome event at the International Office was a warm and welcoming gathering for the new participants, both those attending in person and those who had not yet arrived in Darmstadt. Over a cup of coffee or tea with a panoramic view of the city, participants received essential information in the old Senate Hall, such as the functions of the Athene card, their student email address, and the program's diverse schedule.

On a discovery tour through the city center campus

Afterwards, the participants embarked on an exploration tour of the city center campus under bright sunshine. They not only became acquainted with important contact points such as the International Office in karo 5 , the city center cafeteria, and the University and State Library (ULB), but also discovered the best ice cream parlors in the area and, at their final stop, their seminar room on Landwehrstraße.

A semester full of possibilities

Participants can now look forward to a diverse program. In addition to a specialized German language course and a preparatory mathematics course, both designed with a focus on engineering degree programs, social and cultural events are also planned. A guided tour of the ESA satellite control center in Darmstadt, "Europe's gateway to space," as well as a visit to the ETA factory, workshops, and other highlights await the group. In cooperation with International Student Services and especially TUtor International, events for social networking and integration will take place, including excursions, joint activities, and visits.

Continuation to the bachelor's degree

The PreBachelor program concludes in August with a subject-specific language exam and seamlessly transitions into the Bachelor's degree program in the winter semester. Prior to this transition, participants receive guidance from the Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB) on choosing a course of study and complete program-specific orientation and introductory phases (OSA)to ensure they receive the best possible support as they begin and successfully complete their engineering studies.
