Flexibility in study programs at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences
Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) is developing an
appropriate degree of flexibility in its degree programs within the framework of QuiS_Flex, in order to best meet the diverse needs of students regarding their studies and teaching. The goal is to develop, test, evaluate, and implement new degree programs and study models in collaboration with various departments. These programs and models are flexible along different dimensions (e.g., content, methodology, time, location).
In doing so, we aim to incorporate the needs of all involved groups and promote active participation in shaping the curriculum in a way that reflects the actual wishes of both students and lecturers.
Today's students' lives and the demands placed upon them are so diverse that standard study models are no longer sufficient. Almost all students have to work to finance their studies. Many have family obligations or want to explore other fields of study. At Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, we aim to address these changing circumstances and improve our teaching accordingly, using new teaching formats such as gamification and established methods like blended learning and hybrid teaching. In the future, the university's programs should adapt more to the students, rather than the other way around.
