Making study offerings more flexible at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences

As part of QuiS_Flex, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) is developing an
appropriate level of flexibility in studies in order to best meet the heterogeneous requirements of students when it comes to studying and teaching.
The aim is to develop, test, evaluate and introduce new study programs and study models that are flexible along various dimensions (e.g. content, method, time, space) in collaboration with various departments. We want to take into account the needs of all groups of people involved and promote active participation in teaching that corresponds to the actual wishes of students and lecturers.

The living situations of students and the demands placed on them are so diverse today that standard study models are no longer sufficient. Almost all students have to work to finance their studies. Many have family obligations or want to try out other subjects. With new teaching formats such as gamification or already known methods such as blended learning and hybrid teaching, we at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences want to respond to these changed framework conditions and improve our teaching accordingly. In the future, studying at the university should adapt more to the students, instead of the other way around.
