School of Personal Development and Education (ScoPE)
The School of Personal Development and Education (ScoPE) operates as an independent, inter-university center within Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. This center spans all departments of the university and serves as a central point of contact for students, faculty, and staff. Here, an interdisciplinary team of researchers addresses current and future challenges to support university members in developing their skills. ScoPE focuses on promoting personal development, raising awareness of social responsibility, optimizing university teaching methods, and developing key competencies.
With a clear commitment to its mission, ScoPE opens its arms to provide students and faculty from all disciplines, as well as staff, with a rich array of opportunities to strengthen their personalities and foster their civic engagement, and to continuously expand these opportunities. But ScoPE goes beyond the confines of the university, becoming a partner for the community. In alliance with civil society, it actively contributes to the transformation of the education system by promoting mindful and sustainable higher education.
Skills for the world of tomorrow
For students, ScoPE opens a door to skills that will be invaluable in tomorrow's world. Their academic education is complemented by access to "future skills"—the abilities that give future professionals a powerful voice. Self-reflection, resilience, and problem-solving skills are just some of the gems honed here. These offerings are designed to engage students holistically and, through a wide range of methods and topics such as mindfulness training, individual mentoring, and life-based learning, make a significant contribution to unlocking their potential and actively participating in social change.
ScoPE supports instructors in their efforts to design educational programs tailored to the evolving needs of their students and the rapidly changing world of work. Tools for innovative university teaching are provided, along with modules ranging from data literacy to inquiry-based learning, mindfulness, democratic education, and sustainability. Staff also receive support from ScoPE that extends beyond their professional duties. Their personal and social engagement is encouraged, while new horizons are explored through professional development.
In order to successfully provide all these services, we are working intensively and continuously on various projects.
