For over 200 years, the Städelschule in Frankfurt has seen itself as an open place for artistic experimentation, international exchange, and individual development. Its international student body from 40 nations creates diverse perspectives, but also unique challenges. Therefore, the initiative "Art and Life – From the First Step to a Professional Future" was founded. It provides comprehensive and easily accessible support for international students – from their initial contact with the university to their entry into professional life.
Student LifeCycle: course of study
Target group: Students
University: Städelschule (University of Fine Arts)
We support students throughout their studies – individually, sensitively, and with a focus on solutions. Many concerns involve complex issues such as residency status, finding accommodation, or studying while also caring for others. We understand support not as a one-way street, but as a collaborative partnership.
The diversity of our student body also brings with it specific challenges. Students from crisis regions, queer individuals, or people with experiences of discrimination often encounter structural and emotional difficulties in their daily lives. Our Mental Health Service and a specially established awareness team offer easily accessible, professional support – with the aim of strengthening mental health and creating spaces for empowerment.
The measures described thus contribute to significantly improving the support services for international students and enabling them to have successful studies and positive study experiences.
