Student Life Cycle: Advanced Phase and Final Examination
Target group: International students
University: Goethe University Frankfurt
The Goethe Research Experience Program (GREP) offers international Bachelor's and Master's students practical insights into research at Goethe University Frankfurt. The program aims to integrate international talent into academic work processes at an early stage, promote intercultural exchange, and sustainably expand international research collaborations and academic networks. At the same time, GREP contributes to strengthening strategic partnerships and student exchanges between Goethe University and international partner universities.
Participants work in established research groups across all 16 departments of Goethe University and receive individual mentoring from researchers. Research stays can be undertaken as short-term research projects or laboratory stays lasting two to three months, or as research-oriented theses lasting up to six months.
The program includes regular mentoring sessions, integration into existing research teams, and a final presentation and written research report. Students acquire subject-specific and intercultural skills, gain practical research experience in an international environment, and have the opportunity to earn ECTS credits, which they may be able to transfer to their home university.
GREP provides comprehensive support to students during their stay in Frankfurt. This includes free accommodation in a student residence hall, travel expense subsidies, assistance with visas and health insurance, and enrollment as visiting students at the university. This gives participants access to public transportation and Frankfurt's cultural offerings. The academic scholarship program is complemented by an optional German course at the Goethe-Institut and a diverse social program that further promotes intercultural exchange and networking among participants.
