In a changing world, educational pathways should be individually tailored. An increasingly diverse student body brings with it a range of needs. For example, studying alongside employment or care responsibilities requires both sound planning and a high degree of flexibility regarding the timing, location, and content of one's studies. HSRM therefore offers its students various options for a course of study adapted to their personal circumstances and interests.
Student Life Cycle: Study orientation, starting studies, specialization phase and final examination
Target group: Prospective students, first-year students, current students
University: RheinMain University of Applied Sciences
With the aim of making studies more flexible, HSRM has already developed and implemented various programs and will continue to develop these in the coming years. Prospective students will soon be able to get an overview of the flexibility of the study programs via the "FlexBadges," which are assigned to individual degree programs and provide information about the type and scope of flexible study program elements. Initial digital self-study resources, conceived and implemented by the Teaching and Learning Center as part of a project, contribute to greater flexibility in terms of time and location and will be gradually integrated into the curricula. Further self-study resources in the area of future skills are being developed in collaboration with the departments and are intended to specifically contribute to the development of students' competencies, particularly regarding the future challenges facing our society.
Flexibility through digital learning is also promoted by centrally provided e-tutors who support departments in implementing digital learning units and various learning settings. This is intended to provide students with diverse learning access points that they can use according to their needs, regardless of location or time. A digital marketplace has been designed to expand project-based collaboration between degree programs and departments, as well as with companies and other practical partners. Its use is to be extended to all departments of the university in the coming years, so that more students can access a wider range of modules with project-based learning. AI plays an increasingly important role in almost all dimensions of flexibility. Accordingly, AI is used in all QuIS projects wherever it makes offerings more accessible and/or more flexible in terms of time and individualization for students.
