SaG - Study program variant TIME4ING

TIME4ING is a flexible study option within the engineering department at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. It allows students to study at their own pace, to develop their fundamental knowledge in a targeted and sustainable way, and at the same time to benefit from a two-semester extension of their BAföG funding period.

TIME4ING – study flexibly with more time

As part of the existing collaborative project on adapting study paces, the Engineering Department at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences developed the Time4ing study option, which allows for flexible study with more time in the initial phase. The aim is to offer students a structured and less stressful start to their engineering studies while simultaneously supporting the sustainable acquisition of fundamental technical knowledge. In the TIME4ing option, the courses of the first three semesters can be spread over five semesters.

This reduces the number of courses and exams taken per semester during the initial phase of studies. At the same time, more time is available to focus on and thoroughly learn essential foundational subjects such as mathematics, physics, computer science, and electrical engineering. The study model is complemented by supplementary support services tailored to the needs of students in this initial phase. These include individual coaching and advising, small-group learning workshops to deepen understanding of foundational subjects, and other helpful offerings such as language courses and workshops on academic writing.

Furthermore, the BAföG funding period is extended by two semesters for existing eligibility. Starting in the winter semester of 2026/2027, TIME4ING will be offered for all specializations within the new Applied Engineering Sciences degree program at the Department of Engineering.

Study flexibly with more time. Strengthen your foundations. Get off to a successful start.
