Talent scouting

Individual educational and career opportunities still depend on socioeconomic and societal conditions that are difficult for students to recognize—and almost impossible to change. The goal of talent scouting at Fulda University of Applied Sciences is to counteract this in a concrete and individualized way. Through continuous support, the strengths and talents of students whose potential is less visible in the education system are identified (e.g., first-generation students, socially/financially disadvantaged or immigrant youth).

They are motivated to pursue an educational path that matches their interests and abilities. Building on the existing trusting collaboration with schools in the region and in close exchange with the general student advisory service, a new support program is being created at partner schools of Fulda University of Applied Sciences: Interested students can proactively and directly access opportunities for discussions at their schools, which they are made aware of through information sessions and ideally also by their teachers.

Depending on the student's needs, the talent scout will then provide support over an extended period. Topics of discussion can include: vocational training/university/career guidance, application organization, student financing, housing, and referrals to appropriate counseling services and support programs both within and outside of the HFD (Higher Education Funding). The project will launch in 2026. Initial goals include establishing sustainable partnerships with interested schools, raising public awareness of the project and its themes, and, of course, conducting numerous individual and helpful consultations with students.

As a university of applied sciences, we want to make education accessible and open up new perspectives. Talent scouting is an important component of this: it combines talent development with genuine equal opportunities.
