Talent scouting

Promoting equal opportunities and educational equity is the goal of talent scouting, which focuses particularly on students from non-academic backgrounds. Through a long-term counseling and support program, talented students are assisted in choosing a course of study and career path, and throughout their further education.

Talent scouting

RheinMain University of Applied Sciences is setting an example for greater educational equity and equal opportunities, as well as for individualized support, through its talent scouting program. Talent scouting accompanies young people on their educational and career paths, strengthens their confidence in their own abilities, and helps them find suitable study and career paths. The program is aimed particularly at students from non-academic backgrounds whose achievements stand out in their respective life contexts (regardless of school grades).

The goal of talent scouting is to support young people through open-ended, solution-oriented guidance in developing visions for their future and accompanying them through the transition from school to university or vocational training. The focus is not only on which course of study or vocational training suits them best, but also on how their educational path can be successful – individually, sustainably, and precisely tailored to their personal wishes and potential. If needed and upon request, talents are also supported beyond the initial career or study choice. The collaboration between talents and talent scouts is based on trust.

The talent scouts provide guidance on study options, application procedures, and funding opportunities. They also address topics such as self-organization, learning management, decision-making, and coping with challenges in everyday (educational) life. Close cooperation with schools and other partners in the education and career sectors is also a key component of the project. The talent scouting program at HSRM is already showing results.

Participating talents report that the work of the talent scouts has given them clarity about their strengths and goals. Some were able to successfully manage the transition from school to university with the support of the talent scouts, while others developed concrete perspectives for their professional future.

Talent scouting immediately fascinated me – accompanying and advising a person with a resource- and interest-oriented perspective, where it is not or only marginally about academic performance, but rather about special personal skills such as taking on responsibility at a young age or extracurricular talents, is probably the most contemporary way of promoting young people.
