Goethe University is a cosmopolitan workshop for the future, located in the heart of Europe. Founded in 1914 by Frankfurt citizens, it has revived this tradition as a foundation university since 2008, embedded in the city's community and committed to a high degree of social participation and support. With approximately 40,000 students, Goethe University is one of Germany's largest and most research-intensive universities. It is an internationally oriented comprehensive university, distinguished by its excellent research priorities in six interdisciplinary, cross-departmental profile areas, as well as by the diversity of its subjects in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, life sciences, and medicine. Together with TU Darmstadt and the University of Mainz, it forms the Rhine-Main Universities alliance.
